WOMEN FILMING

A feature-length documentary by Anna Salzberg

In black and white footage, women perform abortions, gather, and collectively express their anger. “Women Filming” is a reflective film, crafted from archival footage of women’s collectives who documented their struggles in the 1970s. They create resounding, political, and intimate films with whatever means available, often with the groundbreaking newly released video cameras. Filming each other becomes a mean to establish an existence, an image of their own through which they collectively build a body and a class-conscious perspective. Gradually, through this exchange of images and lineages, a feminist world unfolds.
