AFTER TAHAR
A feature-length documentary by Soufiane Adel
At the age of 40, I embarked on a road movie about the war trauma of my grandfather Tahar, an Algerian soldier who served in Indochina. With my father and some of his fifteen brothers and sisters, I explore how this post-traumatic shock has been passed down through the generations. As a grandson, son, and nephew, I paint a self-portrait of Algerian immigrants in France, using our doubts and fears as a driving force to move forward.
